Why invest $500K today in direct EB-5?

A Direct EB-5 Investment is an investment into a new or expanding business and under USCIS rules that needs to create 10 full-time jobs. It’s for non Americans, who seek to invest directly into an actual, real, operating business.

The investment amount currently is US$500k in a TEA ( #targetedemploymentarea ).

Investors can be active or passive but they need to make sure the 10 full time American jobs have been created in order to qualify for the conditional green card to be removed so they can apply for a permanent green card.

EB-5 Direct is quite new to investors as they have traditionally looked at investing in EB-5 for a Green Card via a Regional Centre.

Why should investors apply for the US EB-5 Visa now?

In December 2020, Congress decided to separate the EB-5 regional centre programme from the government spending bill (ending its reauthorization on the 30th June 2021) and Senator Chuck Grassley recently introduced the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act.

There are numerous benefits of investing through a regional centre rather than directly in a project.

– Can count indirect and induced jobs to satisfy job creation requirements. This also increases the chances of the investor receiving US permanent residency.

– Reduces the responsibilities of the investor. They can focus on managing a limited partnership with the new commercial enterprise.

– Investors are exposed to experts in regional centres.

Finally, the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act will help to reduce fraud and increase protection for investors. However, it may make it harder for applicants to invest due to stricter requirements after 30th June 2021.

The new Malta Permanent Residence Programme: What you need to know

The MPRP officially came into force at the end of March 2021 and it is strengthening the reputation of Malta as a jurisdiction of choice for investment migration. The programme allows the successful applicants and their close family members to reside, settle or stay indefinitely in Malta. Applications for the MPRP will be vetted and processed by the new Residency Malta Agency after submission of the application pack by an authorised agent.
